Tampere & Hamina int show´s 12.-13.5.2012

I´m speechless...And that does not happen often! What an amazing weekend we had in Tampere & Hamina international shows! Thank you for the many compliments we received from all around! You all mean so much to us :) And now on to the results:

Tampere Int show, judge Janet Lobb (breed), Canada & Frank Kane, Ireland (group).(37 tollers present)

Hedera´s Flaming Fairy won open class with CQ with excellent performance! Hedera´s Go For It first won the males and finally he took the breed! BOS & CACIB was Kitimat Nicola, congrats owner/breeder Mirja Tuominen!

In the finals Reetu showed everyone what kind of a show man he can be! Everyone who has meet him knows that he can be a bit of a handfull sometimes, he just cant´help himself with all the pretty girls around ;) But not today! He loved every minute in the main ring and ended up winning Best in group 3rd! Judge was highly respected all breed judge Mr. Frank Kane from Ireland, THANK YOU!!! 

After a long drive we arrived at Mari´s who had invited us to stay for the night. Thank you Mari for the hospitality! We opened a bottle of champagne & raised our glasses to Reetu´s great day! It´s so nice to be able to enjoy these special moments with friends :)

At Hamina int´show, judge of the day was Mr. Bertil Lundgren, from Sweden. Virpi meet us in the show place just in time for the ring. Nemo was out first and he showed really nicely again, Virpi you are doing a great job with him! He won open class with CQ. Reetu was feeling pretty energetic, but it didn´t seem to mind the judge. In the end Reetu won the males with CACIB & Nemo bm 2nd with res- CACIB--> will turn into CACIB since Reetu is already Int Ch! Two CACIB´s in just two weeks, way to go Nemo! Later Reetu won his second BOB for the weekend! BOS with CACIB was Flamingfox´s Of Great Pleasure, congrats Minna for Dina´s BOS and for Vertti´s CAC!

Thank you judges for appreciating these boys! Biggest thanks goes to Marja & Virpi, it is such a privilege to get to handle these boys! You are doing a perfect job with them <3

The show place is one of the prettiest I´ve ever been to! So we decided to have some fun with the boys, after all they are the ones doing all the work :) Please enjoy!

Jämsä group show 5.5.2012

What a great day at Jämsä group show with Noora & Marja! First time judging tollers Mrs. Tuula Savolainen and there were 5 toller`s entered. Reetu won BOB & Siipiveikon Täyttä Ruutia was BOS and gained her 2nd CAC. Congrats owner & handler Emilia , only one more to go!

This is what the judge had to say about Reetu: "Kuusivuotias tyypiltään erinomainen, kaunislinjainen uros. Hyvät mittasuhteet. Kaunis pää ja ilme. Hyvä tilava runko. Hyvin kulmautunut takaa. Hieman suora olkavarsi. Hyvä luusto ja käpälät. Suorat takaliikkeet. Sivuliikkeessä askel pitkä ja tehokas. Erinomainen turkki ja häntä".

English: 6 years, excellent type, beautiful outline. Good proportions, beautiful head & expression. Good spacious body. Well angulated in back. Slightly straight upper arm. Good bone structure & paws. Good reach and drive in sidemovement, straight in back. Excellent coat & tail"

Cockers were judgeg by Mr. Johan Juslin and Lilo (Little Life Pure Haute Couture) won BOB puppy at her firs show! Ricky (Truly Yours Avantgarde) won BOB & BOB veteran!

Our team did pretty well in the finals also! Reetu was placed BIG 4 & Noora & Ricky BIG 2 & BIS 2 Veteran! Group & BIS Veteran judge was Kirsi Nieminen, thank you!

Little Life Quick Horizon "Hasse"

I´am over the moon by all the great reports I keep getting from Laura Suikkanen, Hasse´s owner. These two have not wasted any time and he has already been getting some agility training and become acquainted with pheasant´s, crows and rabbits. And Hasse is only 10 weeks old! I´m so proud for this couple :)

Looks like this little fellow is following his mom´s footsteps, since he was very keen on getting to know these furry little creatures :) Hasse seems to have an open cocker personality, is always ready to explore new things and is not easily scared. Reminds me of his mom, Donna who still at the age of 4,5 has not grown up ;)

Time will tell what this active couple will achieve, right now the future looks bright :)

The Gerard O´Shea Way of handling, 24.-25.3.2012

Osallistuimme porukalla Irlantilaislähtöisen, vuosikausia jo Ruotsissa asuneen, Gerard O´Sheanin kurssille joka käsittelee näyttelykoirien esittämistä. Tai tällä nimellä kurssi ainakin tunnetaan, mutta näin itse osallistuneena uskallan väittää, että kyse on paljon muustakin! Kaikki lähtee koiran ja omistajan / ohjaajan välisestä suhteesta ja kunnioituksesta, jos koira ei pidä sinua kiinnostavana miten ajattelin saada sen keskittymään tarpeeksi oppiakseen uutta? Tämä on hyvin karkea (ja perustuu siihen miten itse kurssin koin) lyhennelmä viikonlopun opeista.

Gerard on melkoisen karismaattinen kouluttaja jolla on taito saada jopa huoneellinen naisia jättämään omat juorunsa ja kuuntelemaan ;) Kurssin suurinta antia oli varmasti koiran lukeminen, signaalit sekä keinot joilla tehdä omasta ja koiran arjesta hiukkasen miellyttävämpää! Oli koirasi sitten ahne, pallohullu tai sylivauva kaikkea tätä voidaan käyttää koiralle palkintona. Perinteinen ruokapalkka menettää joillakin koirilla nopeasta (Wiivi) tehonsa ja silloin on hyvä miettiä mikä on se next best thing? Meillä se on riehuminen & syliin ottaminen sen eteen jaksetaan tehdä töitä, jopa niitä töitä mitkä eivät koirasta ole niitä kaikkein mieluisimpia ;) Donna taas rakastaa riekkumista joten vaaleanpunaiset flamingot ovat olleet ahkerassa käytössä kurssin jälkeen!

Harjoittelimme koirien kanssa käsisignaaleja jotka ovat aika yksinkertaisia ja valmistelevat koiraa tulevaan palkkaan (liikkuminen yms.) ja näitä signaaleja voi tosiaankin harjoitella ja käyttää ihan arkisisissakin tilanteissa kuten ulos lähtiessä. Taisi olla enemmän meillä ihmisillä hakusessa nämä signaalit kun koirilla ;)

Näitä asioista on todella vaikea selittää paperille, kurssin on jotain mikä pitää kokea itse! Gerard on tulossa uudelle kurssille Porvooseen syksyllä, jos innostuitte lisätietoja löytyy Suomen Ridgeback Yhdistys ry:n sivuilta.

Winter greetings :)

Nice & relaxing weekend behind us! Long walks enjoying the wonderful weather here in Finland! I guess spring is finding it´s way to us after all :) On Sunday I meet up with Virpi & laura and went to see the puppies for the last time before they move into their new homes, 8 weeks went by so fast! The buff boy (Little Life Quick Step) will be moving to Vantaa & for the black boy (Little Life Quick Horizon) we have a very potential home in sight! Puppies also got first taste in bird wings and had no hesitations to grab them! It will be interesting to see what the future holds for these lively cockerboys!

Mukava & rentouttava viikonloppu takana! Pieni flunssan uhka leijaili yllä,mutta sekin selätettiin :) Pitkiä lenkkejä mahtavassa kevätsäässä, hyvää ruokaa & A-luokan seuraa, ei kai sitä enempää voi toivoa :) Sunnuntaina Virpi & Laura matkasivat Orimattilasta Kangasalle starttaamaan Nemon (Hedera´s Faming Fairy) tokouraa & samalla lähdettiin katsastamaan Donnan pentuja, viimeistä kertaa ennenkuin ensimmäinen lentää pesästä..Nopsaa nekin kasvoi "aikuisiks" :) Vaalea poika (Little Life Quick Step) muuttaa Vantaalla & mustallekin (Little Life Quick Horizon) on erittäin potentiaalinen koti näkyvissä, siitä lisää toivottavasti pian ;)
Pennut saivat ensimmäisen kosketuksensa riekonsiipeen & vahvasti näyttää siltä,että mamman riistavietti on siirtynyt myös pojille! Ensin hiukan haisteltiin,mutta hetken päästä jo riekkoa retuutettiin varmoin ottein ympäri pentuaitausta! Ihanan reippaita on molemmat pojat & toivonkin heidän tuottavan paljon ilon hetkiä tulevaisuudessa uusille omistajilleen! Jos äitiinsa tulee niin tylsää ei ainakaan tule ;)

Turku international show, 22.1.2012

We arrived to Turku already Saturday evening where Marja & Reetu were waiting for us. Quick walk with the dogs & of to Amarillo to see the rest of the gang, Pia, Miita, Jaana & Mari. Had a nice dinner in great company, thank you girls for a fun evening :)

Next day was time for the first show of the year: Turku Winter Dog Show and judge of the day was Mr. Rune Fagerström, Finland. 63 toller´s were entered.

"Nemo" Hedera´s Flaming Fairy was enjoying the ring with his owner Virpi and gained EXC in very tough competition, 14 open class males! Reetu won the males and ended up being BOS with CACIB! BOB & BOB veteran was fabulous Kitimat Monday Morning "Tytti", almost 10 years old & still going strong! Congrats Mirja & co!

Cograts my dear friend Pia Takkunen for Lotta´s CACIB & for winning BOB breeder! It was a pleasure to be a part of that group :)
